Above all, Pousada Seis e Meia is a family-run accommodation that's been kept in the same family since its opening in 1983. The name even comes from the story of their first guests, a Brazilian and German couple, who got up at 6:30 every morning during their stay to help the owners make breakfast (but don't worry - the pousada has come a long way since then so you won't have to do that!). However, breakfast is still a great reason to drag yourself out of the comfy bed for homemade cakes, eggs, and much more. The pousada is now run by a young couple from the same family and so is very easy going and laid back. You could even go as far as to say a bohemian paradise.
Each of the 14 apartments is designed with comfort in mind. Set in a luscious garden, surrounded by multiple species of plant life, exotic flowers, and fruit trees, each apartment comes with its own terrace and hammock so that you can lay outside and enjoy the surrounding nature. The apartments themselves have been designed with a nomadic lifestyle in mind and so really allow you to connect with nature all around you. The design is carefully thought out, with clean lines mixed with natural textures and exotic local accessories, such as wood, straw, and coconuts. The outdoor pool merges with the forest around it and allows you to sit back and enjoy a cocktail whilst listening to the jungle sounds coming from all around.
Trancoso itself is just a short walk away, although it may seem like you're miles away from anything. The main square, filled with small shops and independent restaurants, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and definitely worth a visit. Although it's a very safe area and great for families, the pousada has installed cameras around its exterior to ensure your safety overnight so you can rest easy, knowing that you're being looked out for.
