In times gone by, the 15th century Masseria Torre Coccaro used to be part of a series of look out posts against attacks from Turkish pirates and has also been used for the production of olive oil (in fact, the area is the biggest producer of high-quality olive oil in all of Italy). Nowadays, having been transformed into a superlative five-star resort means invaders are urbane travellers looking for quality places to stay in one of the least spoilt areas of Italy, or as one past guest put “a retreat from reality”.
In fact, the mission statement of this five-star resort is simply to give back guests the antique natural life of Puglia, to which we may add with a slice of luxury as standard.
