Probably one of the most luxurious hotels we’ve ever seen – in any city, period, and we’ve seen quite a few.

Nevertheless, nothing quite like this: three magnificent rooms (about 150 sq. meters), each more impressive than the other with antique furniture, massive oil paintings, XVI-century tapestries and parquet floors.

A stay in this small charming luxury hotel gives some idea of how history, art and taste all intertwine together. A quick history lesson, for example, will reveal that Napoleon III lived here in 1830 (hence the name).

After extensive renovations, the apartment was restored to its original splendour and offers the business and leisure traveller all the grandeur of a classic Roman Palazzo with all the modern conveniences to which one is entitled.

Guests enter the Palazzo through massive wooden doors and pass along an elegant arcade of Doric columns. A grand marble staircase, lined with antique marble busts of Roman Emperors, leads up to the entrance of the apartment.

The Napoleone Suite: offers two sizable reception rooms and a large master bedroom which has a large canopied bed draped with beautiful fabrics and silks. One of the six huge oil paintings in the bedroom forms the headboard while another painting opens to reveal an exquisite marble bathroom.

The Roof Garden: a multi-level brick and wood-decked roof terrace, with Mediterranean aromatic fragrances of lavender, thyme and mint making a sublime setting for massage, long leisurely breakfasts, sunbathing, or simply enjoying the breathtaking view of the Spanish Steps.
