If you love hidden gems near the sun, ocean and nature, Bananas Lodge could be the perfect holiday accommodation for you. Decorated with original and modern details, surrounded by a tropical green garden and fully equipped furniture it provides a summer paradise for young and old. The lodge is situated in Ribeira Grande on the lovely Azores Island of São Miguel.

There are two cottages the lodge has to offer, both of them have an open space area where you can sleep, relax and cook in the middle of a tropical paradise. The private patio with an outdoor shower provides a special atmosphere and lets you be part of the nature around you. There is another bathroom inside the cottage, as well as a double bed, a sleeping sofa and a dining table. You have all the amenities you need and the ocean nearby. Santa Barbara Beach is really close to the accommodation, so you can go there for swimming or surfing. The city centre is around 4km from the property and there are some really nice restaurants you can try. The accommodation also provides a surfboard rental in case you don't have your own surfboard with you. It is a perfect and hidden spot to stay and explore the island of São Miguel.

We were there for a week and felt super comfortable. The contact runs easily. The equipment is beautiful and modern. Here you do nothing wrong! For us the best accommodation in Sao Miguel.

Perfect Spot!

My girlfriend and I stayed here for 5 days during our first visit to the island. Looks just like the photos: Quaint, clean and private. Located super close to Santa Barbara Beach. The hosts were super helpful via email before we arrived and when we got to the cottage. We spent the trip exploring the island and surfing at Santa Barbara Beach. We would definitely stay here next time we visit.

Adequate, but not extraordinary

There were many parts of our stay at Bananas Lodge that were enjoyable - we thought the decor was attractive, it was convenient to have a fridge, sink, and kitchen amenities, the owners were kind and pleasant to deal with. The pieces we were less pleased with were the comfort of the space- the mattress was quite uncomfortable, I could feel each of the individual springs inside the mattress. It seemed that more attention was placed on the aesthetic details than the quality of the experience. Additionally, I had expected a very private and secluded experience - this was not the case. You can hear pretty much everything being said and done in the adjacent cottage and while there are some hedges, the experience is not the private oasis that was described. All in all, the cost was low and this would be a decent budget option, but I would not stay again and would not feel comfortable recommending Bananas Lodge to a friend unless they really needed to pinch pennies.
