Albion House

Albion House was built in 1791 and, since then, has entertained royalty, politicians, actors, and many more. Among these esteemed guests was the Princess Victoria, shortly before she was crowned queen. It's not hard to see why Albion House was chosen as the accommodation for these VIPs. Located atop the East Cliff, it boasts incredible views of the Albion gardens and the Royal Harbour. The harbour is the only one in England to have been given the royal title, a gift from King George IV to thank Ramsgate for their impeccable hospitality, which you will definitely experience at Albion House. From the house, you will also be able to watch the annual commemoration of when thousands of soldiers returned from Dunkirk in 1940. 

The house itself is also a sight to behold. During the 2015 refurbishment, every care was taken to preserve the original 18th century features, including the Italian Carrara marble bathrooms, sash windows, Georgian staircase, and the cornices, which were remoulded and replaced. 12 out of the 14 rooms have a sea view, where you can observe the unique light and sunset that brought artists, such as Turner and Van Gogh, to Ramsgate. There is even the unique opportunity to stay in the room where Princess Victoria stayed in 1835, and experience the views of Ramsgate through the eyes of one of England's most beloved monarchs. 

In the evening, head to Albion House's own restaurant, Townleys, for some tasty gourmet food with amazing sea views. Experience seafood, fresh from Ramsgate Harbour. During the day, the hotel offers the opportunity to rent electric bikes, which provide the perfect way to explore the many coastal trails in East Kent, including the Viking Trail and the Sandwich Nature Reserve.
