Hotel Torel Avantgarde

The Torel Avantgarde is a luxury five-star boutique hotels in Porto that set a very high bar indeed in terms of imagination. And the very name gives away its philosophy. The concept of Avant-garde originally comes from the building, which originates from the Estado-Novo (New State) period in the 1940s. But like avant-garde artists themselves, the owners of the hotels wished to create something completely new: a place where art is not only an add-on, but the essence of the place.

The hotel works with four Portuguese artists – all from Porto – in the in the realization of this very unique space: Jorge Curval, Frederico Draw, Daniel Eime and Paulo Neves. Their art is part and parcel of the property — from the outside to the reception, the restaurant and the rooms. And for true art lovers, Torel Avantgarde even showcases the works of Portuguese artists through exhibitions.

And don't you worry! The hotel is as comfortable as is it beautiful. Each of the rooms is unique, named after a famous avant-garde artist. The design and decoration of each room reflects the personality and specific vision of the artist. Moreover, the green and lush terraces provide a breath-taking view over the Douro River and Gaia, the city on the other side.
