La Lamia

A lightning strike in the Apulian countryside around Ostuni ignited a deep love for the olive groves, the dry stone walls, the small rural buildings, the splendid light and the red earth of the fields. This passion has led to the creation of a unique house with three bedrooms, each with its own bathroom. The house includes a bright and cosy kitchen and living room, designed to blend in with its surroundings.

Inspired by iconic works such as Casa Arzale by Marco Zanuso and Casa no Tempo by Aires Mateus, the Milanese architecture studio Solum undertook this project in which simplicity is the culmination of in-depth research. The use of local materials is emphasised, with tuff surfaces whitewashed with lime, and even the internal and external floors are treated with tuff, soft to the touch and ideal for walking barefoot.

Inside, the rooms are cosy, with barrel vaulted ceilings and large French windows that let in the light and colours of the olive trees. These spaces are free of superstructures, creating an environment where you can feel at ease and connect with others. Outside, the pool is designed in earth tones, giving the water a blue-green hue that blends seamlessly with the surrounding trees. Everything is designed to be light and simple, embodying the essence of the perfect holiday home.
