The best way to discover the rich history and culture of Calabria is to visit the Museo Nazionale di Reggio Calabria which houses plenty of artefacts found over the years in the local area. The town of Reggio Calabria has the famous Castello Aragonese situated right in the centre of the town. It has been perfectly preserved and its high vantage point means that it can be seen from all over.
With 500 miles of coastline, visitors will be spoilt for choice over which crystal clear water paradise to visit, from golden sand to pebbly shores there are endless options in this part of Italy. Tropea is arguably one of the most popular seaside spots, with visitors flocking to this seaside resort to enjoy the turquoise water and stunning sunsets.

Calabria´s economy still very much depends upon its rich agriculture/farming sector and consequently the regional cuisine is heavily influenced by the abundance of delicious local produce. Calabria´s culture of cucina povera (peasant cuisine) offers the ideal balance between simple and flavoursome dishes.
No trip to this region can escape sampling the incredible local olive oil. Indeed, almost a quarter of Italy´s olive oil is produced in Calabria. Visitors must also try the local delicacy – nduja – a soft sausage that’s packed with chilli.
