Imani Country House

Imani means "belief" in Swahili, and this specific "imani" inspired José Pedro Vasconcelos and Mariana Roxo to transform this country house into a one-of-a-kind hotel with a truly special charm. Their vision was to make the most of its centuries-old gardens and turn the house that was originally built for farmworkers into a sophisticated Alentejo retreat.

The collaboration between an Australian architect and an artistic personal touch of José and Mariana resulted in a striking architectural ensemble of great beauty and originality, with a distinctive rustic character in the heart of Alentejo.

The outcome is an exclusive fusion: two swimming pools, high-end audio systems, contemporary aesthetic ... and at the same time, two donkeys and a herd of sheep wandering through the magnificent gardens filled with ancient trees and even statues. Could there be a better balance of countryside allure and polished sophistication?

Imani House offers five bright and spacious suites, ranging from 35 to 80 m². Each is equipped with air conditioning, a gourmet minibar, Wi-Fi, an iPod dock, a DVD player, a telephone and a picturesque fireplace that adds to the coziness and welcoming feel.

Fresh, regional ingredients from the hotel’s own garden are carefully selected to create a delicious menu of Portuguese cuisine in the restaurant, led by Chef Rui Rosário. And for those who appreciate a leisurely morning, breakfast is served until noon.

Located just 15 minutes from Évora, a UNESCO World Heritage city, Imani is the perfect place to unwind, enjoy the outdoors, go horse riding, take a scenic walk or cycle along beautiful trails… or why not even take the plunge with a parachute jump?
