Cabana na Lagoa

Among rice fields, close by the small village of Melides, hides this beautiful holiday villa. Upon entering, you will feel the magic of this small Portuguese gem. We were in the middle of the countryside and came across a typical Comporta-style house with whitewashed walls. It gives the impression of a beach house with its indigo blue floors, designed to blend seamlessly into its surroundings while respecting the local landscape and vegetation. Wood is especially prominent, used in the facades, structures and interior decoration, bringing warmth and a close connection to nature.

The house is decorated in a minimalist style, with furniture and ornaments carefully selected as not to overcrowd the space. Functionality and simple aesthetics are favoured, with decorative elements that are often handcrafted or of local design, adding an authentic touch. The interiors are bright with wooden or cane ceilings that provide excellent thermal insulation. In summer, they keep the interior of the house cool, while in winter they help retain heat.

There are two outdoor dining areas, 30 metres away is the swimming pool with a shaded lounge area and comfortable sun loungers surrounded by a garden of local plants. Inside, you will find two bedrooms on the ground floor and an upstairs bedroom with an en suite bathroom. Each room is equipped with double beds. The lower bedrooms have a separate entrance. The house can accommodate up to six people. There is also an open plan dining area and a fully equipped kitchen, which flows directly into the cosy living room.

The village of Melides is within walking distance, where you can go shopping and visit excellent restaurants with traditional Portuguese cuisine. You are 5 minutes away from the Aberta Nova beach, with a wide strip of fine golden sand, which stretches for several kilometres and can be reached by a dirt road. There is a beach bar and you can rent sun loungers.

The villa is the perfect starting point to visit Comporta (30 minutes), Troia or Carvalhal in the north. Further south is the historic town of Santiago do Cacém and the beaches of Porto Corvô where you can surf. There are many beautiful beaches along the coast, where you can enjoy the sea.
