Quinta Das Lavandas

The Lavender farm, to give it its Portuguese name is a sweet smelling success story. Set within 60,000 square metres of lavender fields, this beautiful plant is then transformed here into essential oils and lavender derived products, such as soaps and perfumes, which are also on offer in the in-house shop.

The fields themselves are situated in the equally lovely São Mamede Natural Parque and, while we’re at it, Castelo de Vide, and Marvão surely one of Portugal’s loveliest villages (don’t miss them), are just a few km away — though it may seem longer due to the winding country roads, and the fact that time just seems to travel more slowly here. What we’re saying is that this is a lovely part of the world in terms of nature and history, to chill out and relax. The Quinta das Lavanda is just a great base to make the most of what the area has to offer.

Especially when you consider that all seven rooms (each named after a flower or tree by the way) have been individually decorated with boutique-style creature-comforts. Teresa & Stephen are also the kindest of hosts and as one happy guest said they offer “the very best in Portuguese hospitality”.
