Hotel Rústico Lugar do Cotariño

The charming Hotel Rústico Lugar do Cotariño is as if it were a small village of 3 stone houses surrounded by eucalyptus, pine trees and cornfields. It is located on the spectacular Costa da Morte (Coast of Death), where we can feel the force of nature piercing our skin. This coast of fierce and salty winds, witnessed many tragic shipwrecks on its rocky cliffs in the past. The nearest village is Camariñas, a seafaring village of endearing people. It is said that they are as their ocean, affectionate and feisty.

The hotel is run by father and son, a personal project that has become a vocation. The houses have a total of 7 rooms. The main building is the oldest, a former mansion built in 1713 and has two very nice rooms. The second house has four rooms, two on the ground floor and two on the first floor and an open gallery overlooking the garden. This is also the place where the rich and abundant breakfast with typical local products, as well as freshly cooked eggs, pancakes or “filloas” with ham and cheese is served. The main living room has a large and cosy fireplace and a honesty bar. The third house has a room for people with reduced mobility.

The furniture and decoration of the Lugar Cotariño clearly remind us of where we are, but also with a lot of elegance and comfort. All the rooms have television, wooden floors, very comfortable beds, views of the garden. Some have space for an extra bed.

Within walking distance you will find wild beaches, such as Reira and Praia do Trece. They are white sandy beaches, beaten by the rough waves of the Atlantic Ocean. We are in the midst of a marvellous marine ecosystem with an impressive biodiversity of flora and fauna.

There are also countless places to visit: Cabo Vilán lighthouse, the port of Camariñas, Ermita de la Virgen del Monte and the English cemetery. As distances are not short, we advise you to come by car to get the most out of your trip. The Costa da Morte is definitely a destination you should not miss.
