Quinta do Miguel

These magnificent holiday homes on the Lisbon coast lie in Aldeia do Meco, some 45 km south of Lisbon, one of the summertime “meccas” for the Portuguese and somehow relatively unknown to the outside world. The Atlantic waves crash onto the seemingly never-ending beaches, the area buzzes with activity from July to September and the pine woods set the scene for many a barbeque. This area really is a magnet for sun and beach lovers, yet there are not that many special places to stay. Well, until recently anyway, for now, we have the Quinta do Miguel. Made up of a large house and surrounded by two apartments and two houses, the Quinta do Miguel gets everything just about right. Sophisticated, minimalist, and modern in the way it has been decorated, it is also utterly comfortable as is situated perfectly within a private 12,000 square meters area that comes with a wonderful variety of flora and trees and even some peacocks.

There is also an outdoor Jacuzzi to try out if the Atlantic breakers get too much for you. (The beaches in this area are relatively wild). It is an ideal place to relax, recharge, and as the Quinta do Miguel itself say, get away from it all, whilst still being bang in the middle of one of Portugal’s seaside areas par excellence.
