The Siete Balcones y un Patio opened up to the public in July 2010 and has a fresh, and refreshing, feel to it. Perhaps it’s the flowers laid out every day or the candles or perhaps Bryony and Wanda's welcoming but discreet attention to guests. What ever it is, you feel good to be here.

Though an 18th century building constructed in the local style of architecture with iron balconies and looking onto a courtyard (this is Andalusia, after all!) it also mixes in modern urbane design with handicrafts – there are ceramics aplenty to give the place a further fresh feel.

Talking about fresh, there’s an interesting twist to breakfast. The hotel provides you with fresh ingredients, including, fruit, bread, cheese, cold meat, eggs, cereals, etc for you to prepare your breakfast how, when and where you like it – in your room, or anywhere else in the house, for example.

All rooms come with en-suite bathrooms, ceiling fans, Ipod speakers and WIFI Internet connections. Still, that’s about it when it comes to similarities between the rooms, as each is different with a unique character:

Room 1

Largest of all the rooms and accessed directly off the entrance hall leading to the patio.

It comes with an open-plan design, sitting area and kitchenette where you will find your breakfast each morning. Also has a unique en-suite bathroom with large walk-in shower

Room 2

Opens onto the patio so that guests here can take their breakfast in or outdoors. Definitely Moorish in character given the alcoves and arches. Also come with its own kitchenette.

Rooms 3 and 4 are located on the first floor and have the use of a common kitchen/bar area as well as breakfast room

Room 3

Open-plan first floor bedroom/bathroom suite with queen-size bed sitting area

and French windows opening onto two balconies.

Room 4

The smaller double room, though it is light and airy with a super stucco shower and balcony. Guests have the use of the breakfast room or may take a tray up to the roof terrace.

Finally, an observation: like most hotels in Vejer, guests have to leave their cars at the entrance of the medieval quarter and you take the luggage on foot.
