Pazo de Bentraces
Hotel Type: Manor House
Environment: Countryside
Number of Rooms: 6
Style: Elegant
This delightful 15th century Episcopal residence is in many ways the prototype of the Galician Pazo (a lodging where the kings spent at least one night).
Constructed in stone, additions were built up to the 18th century. The current owners, have taken a long time in restoring it to its former glory but the effect is impressive and worth it – a beautiful haven of peace and tranquillity.
Only the noblest of materials, such as walnut, chestnut, marble and porcelain were used in the restoration, the result of which is a continuation of the old world charm. The result has certainly been worth it.
The rooms are splendid and ample as well as being decorated with numerous fine antiques. Indeed this is an excellent place for lovers of antique pieces. But there’s more. Here the combination of stone and wood works harmoniously.
Outside, the grounds are beautiful and a dip in the swimming pool or a walk around the surroundings are an excellent way to relax and while away the day.
Those wanting to venture a little bit further out can visit Ourense or the Galician coast nearby. Bentraces is, in fact, strategically located on the “Route of the Monasteries”.
