A beautifully discreet Granada lodging, where even the aromas of flowers will linger in the memory .
This 16th century renaissance style mansion was built on the ruins of 12th century Arab House and the discreetness is such that hidden amongst the side streets of the Albayzín, you may just miss it. That would be a real shame, for here is a place that offers a surprising amount of luxury and true Andalusian hospitality in equal measure.
The Carmen del Cobertizo is a place to enjoy time, just chatting away and enjoying a good drink by the lovely courtyard or large garden, with its excellent view of the Alhambra or the small pool, made from a former fountain. Lovely as both the rooms, which are built around the patio, and general décor are, the hospitality of the place remains one of the key elements of a stay here and guests generally leave enchanted both by the place and owners.
The other powerful sense to be awoken here is the sense of smell. The aromas of the plotted plants, flowers and even orchards emanating from the garden are delightful. A final word of caution. The narrow, winding roads around the Albaycin may make for picture postcard beauty, but getting there by car is near impossible.
In our opinion, it is best to park in a public car park nearby Plaza Nueva and take a taxi in. Other than that, enjoy this lovely Lodging.
