Tenerife

Tenerife boasts the title of largest and most visited island of the Canaries.

It is easy to see why. Its lunar like landscapes, a legacy from volcanic activity, make it a great walking base, the Pico del Teide, at 3,718 metres high is also the tallest peak of all Spain.

Of course there are bits that have been debased by mass tourism, but here it is so easy to get away and leave the neon lights behind and get away from it all.
