A fun, character filled place to stay in Madeira.

Do you think of Madeira as a traditional holiday resort with stuffy accommodations? Not so! Just look at the Casa do Papagaio. Modern, bold and built with enormous glass windows to take maximum advantage of the views of the Atlantic – and that includes all the rooms! It’s great fun.

The interior decoration of the house was purposefully filled with tasteful Portuguese and Indo-Portuguese furniture and works of art. Particularly unique are the very special artefacts and embroidery from Madeira itself as well as Portuguese cutlery. Tasteful prints of Van Gogh and other impressionist artists lend the home a further colour and character.

In the garden a miscellany of plants and flowers abound. A short staircase below a nice and large swimming pool is made available to customers for their use. This is a great spot to catch up on some sun! Another feature of the property is the “Levada” (walkway) that runs through it and from where you can actually walk to Funchal or the Câmara de Lobos. A final note: Filomena, the lovely owner, is a dog lover and several very well trained and docile dogs run freely in the garden.

If you love animals you will very much enjoy her collection of canines. In turn, guests are allowed to bring their own small pets too.

Das war eine wunderschöne Zeit!

Ich war mit meiner Freundin letztes Jahr zwei Wochen im Hotel Casa Papagaio und wir wollen wieder kommen :)

Das Hotel, das Zimmer und Personal hat mir sehr gut gefallen. Aus unserem Zimmer konnte man wunderbar das Ozean betrachten...

Das Früchstück war immer pünktlich da und hat uns sehr gut geschmeckt.

Die sehr freundliche Nyara hat uns bei der Buchungen von unterschiedlichen Rundreisen geholfen.

Also, kann ich das Hotel nur weiterempfehlen!!!

Things to do in Madeira

The famous Levada walks, one of them starts right next to the Casa Papagaia;
Jeep tours with mini levada walks to meet the true nature of the island and see beautiful landscapes;
Bike Rides above the clouds;
Horse riding (horse baptism, volte, basic lessons);
Watch dolphins on a boat trip;
Paragliding startpoints. The Casa Papagaio is close;
Canyoning guides will explore the deep valleys with you;
There are two Golf Courses, one, "Palheiro", is 15 min. away and the other, "Santo da Serra", is a 30 min. drive away.
