The B & B Alegria might be located in beautiful Provence, France, but its name actually means joy in Spanish and Portuguese.

A stay here clearly brings a lot of that, for this is a stylish guest house with incredibly friendly hosts and a pretty central position – on the edge of the village of Aups - which makes it an ideal base to discover many lovely places such as Lac Sainte-Croix, Moustiers Sainte Marie, Aix-en-Provence, not forgetting the A list areas of Saint Tropez, Cannes and Nice.

In fact, Aups is basically at the junction of the wine route, truffle route and the Gorges du Verdon, part of an exceptionally lovely protected natural park. You may very well forge new friendships here, most probably with Dieter & Cindy, the charming owners who are very entertaining and a font of local knowledge, but with other guests as well as the whole place is just so stress free and conducive to fine conversation, preferably with a glass of the excellent local wine to hand.

You can also intermingle by the olive tree garden (the Alegria produces its own olive oil) the swimming pool or even play a game of “petanque”. Alegria organizes in low season theme packages that wine and art lovers will really appreciate (wine tasting, gastronomy, wellness, sports and arts).
