If you want “action” Rio style, you know, night life, bars, etc, then look away. If you want total tranquillity, spacious grounds, bungalows, a great pool and simply that get away from it all feeling, then you’ve definitely come to the right place – welcome to the Pousada Côté Sud.

And boy is it peaceful and spacious. Consisting of 9 bungalows, it is set within some 20,000 metres of landscaped gardens flanked by the fishing village of Porto de Pedra on one side, mangroves on the other and one of the loveliest beaches you are likely to see. And not a single night club in sight!

Talking of the beach, it is over 35km long! Made up of fine sand and that turquoise blue water it is ideal not only for water activities horse riding cycling but also, of course, long, very long walks.

Corinne and Roger Luypaert, are the Belgian couple who we have to thank for producing such a striking accommodation. With a background in design, they have definitely served up their own unique interpretation of what a Brazilian Pousada should be like.

On top of this wonderful location and calm you also get refined 4 poster beds, handicrafts, and one of the pousada’s “piece de la resistance”, so to speak, a personally designed, and slightly elevated, large pool, complete with bar, that overlooks that wonderful beach.

In fact, vistas here are an important part of the stay. Even the excellent restaurant, which serves up a fusion of Brazilian and French classics, has large bay windows to make the most of the sea views.

Yet despite being secluded and 150 km from Recife, it is still only a scenic short walk from the small port of Porto da Rua.

The Pousada’s traditional ”jangada” is at the disposal of diving and fishing enthusiasts. We offer diving in the natural pools of the coral reef as well as sea fishing trips and of course the opportunity to savour your catch , prepared in our kitchens , upon your return.

Or for more leisurely activates there is shellfish picking in the coastal streams or crab fishing during the full moon.

The jungle & Fazendas

A stone’s throw from the beach there is plenty of vegetation for nature lovers.

We are happy to organise picnics for a day trip into the nearby jungle and surrounding beauty spots. A guide is at your disposal for expertise and insight into local flora and fauna.
